Caring for a Blister. Blisters are the skin's defense mechanism to protect its deeper layers from bacteria. While preventing a blister is almost always easier than curing one, you can follow a few simple guidelines at home to care for a blister.

Treating an Insect Bite. If you know in advance that you will be outside with the possibility of being around insects, take precautions and wear insect repellant or long pants and long sleeved shirts. If you do get bitten, treating insect bites is relatively easy, using a few items you most likely already have in your medicine cabinet.

Treating Bruises. Bruising occurs when capillaries burst underneath the skin. Since most bruises are not life threatening, there are steps you can take to minimize bruising and pain if you act quickly. But if bruises appear without trauma, or will not heal after three weeks, talk with your doctor to rule out a more serious medical condition.
