How to Remove Cellulite

Written by Charlotte Wood (last updated May 31, 2013)

Cellulite is the dimpling of the skin in the pelvic areas, lower limbs, and abdomen that often occurs after puberty. Unfortunately, cellulite is not uncommon and also unfortunately, cellulite isn't usually considered very attractive. Mainly because of somewhat unrealistic media images, people don't like cellulite, and are often quite willing to take extreme measures to get rid of that cellulite. Here are some ways to remove that cellulite, some of them extreme, some of them not. Once you know the ins and outs of cellulite treatment, you'll be able to make an educated decision about your body.

Some of the more mild ways to get rid of cellulite include cellulite creams. Cellulite creams can be either over-the-counter or prescribed, but either way, they can produce somewhat satisfactory results. The thing with cellulite creams is that they won't ever actually get rid of your cellulite, but they can noticeably reduce your cellulite. With the cellulite creams, you will want to continually apply them; otherwise, you'll just see the cellulite come back.

More extreme methods of cellulite reduction include electronic muscle stimulation (EMS), body wrapping, and plastic surgery. Only the latter option really produces results. EMS and body wrapping are expensive and take different approaches to eliminating cellulite. EMS ideally makes your muscles contract more, reducing the visible effects of cellulite. Body wrapping supposedly takes away the cellulite, but because that's not really possible, really all it does it make you sweat some that gives the appearance of reduced cellulite. Plastic surgery is the most effective of all cellulite reduction methods, but is a little more risky and definitely more expensive. If you are serious enough to seek plastic surgery, make sure that you do it the safe way with a legitimate and qualified plastic surgeon.

Cellulite may not be the most socially attractive, but there is also nothing dangerous about it. If you really do want to get rid of your cellulite, make sure that it's a legitimate way and that you aren't just wasting your money. Your health and safety are what is most important, so make sure that you don't let social standards cloud your judgment.
